Formula and format

LIENDREX is a topical shampoo for treating head, body and pubic (crab) lice. Its label lists pyrethrins 0.30% and piperonyl butoxide 4%. The 4 fl oz (120 mL) bottle includes a fine-tooth comb. Menper Distributors, Inc. is listed as distributor. NDC 53145-308-04.

Inactive ingredients

Water, PEG-80 Sorbitan Laurate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Polysorbate 80, Sodium Trideceth Sulfate, Sodium Lauroamphoacetate, Sodium Laureth-13 Carboxylate, Citric Acid, Tetrasodium EDTA.

Directions from Drug Facts

  1. Read all warnings and package information. Shake well before use.
  2. Apply to dry hair or the affected area until all hair is thoroughly wet with the product.
  3. Leave on for 10 minutes, but no longer.
  4. Add enough warm water to form a lather and shampoo as usual. Rinse thoroughly.
  5. Use a fine-tooth or lice/nit-removal comb to help remove dead lice and nits.
  6. Apply a second treatment 7 to 10 days later to kill newly hatched lice.

Warnings and storage

For external use only. Use with caution in people allergic to ragweed. Do not use near the eyes or allow contact with mucous membranes, including inside the nose, mouth or vagina, because irritation may occur.

Keep eyes tightly closed until the product is rinsed out and protect them with a towel or other suitable material. If it enters the eyes, flush with water immediately. Stop use and ask a doctor if skin irritation or infection is present or develops, or if lice affect eyebrows or eyelashes.

Keep out of reach of children. If swallowed, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center immediately. Protect from freezing and excessive heat. Do not reuse the original container.

Does combing replace the second treatment?

No. The label includes combing and a second treatment 7 to 10 days later.

Is this the same product as LIENDREX II?

No. The shampoo and conditioner have separate listings and directions. Always check the name and label of the product you have.
