How to read PARASITOL Drug Facts: strength and weight-based dosing

1. Read the active ingredient with its unit

Each 1 mL contains 144 mg pyrantel pamoate, equivalent to 50 mg pyrantel base. Milligrams describe the amount of active ingredient; milliliters describe the volume of suspension. Do not interchange those units or transfer directions from another strength.

2. Review the conditions before choosing an amount

4. Read the frequency and administration directions

The label directs taking the medicine only once as a single dose and not repeating treatment unless directed by a doctor. Shake well before use. It may be taken with or without meals, alone or with milk or fruit juice; a laxative is not necessary before, during or after use.
