Formula and package

External-use topical analgesic ointment with methyl salicylate 10.5%. The package contains two jars of 5.29 oz (150 g) each.

The label indicates temporary relief of minor muscle and joint aches associated with simple backache, arthritis, strains and sprains. It is not a treatment that cures these conditions.

Listed inactive ingredients

Camphor, D&C Yellow No. 10, menthol, methylparaben, paraffin wax, propylparaben and white petrolatum. Individual amounts are not stated on the label.

Directions and warnings

• Adults and children 12 years and older: apply to the affected area no more than 3–4 times daily.
• Do not use in children under 12: the warning panel prohibits it. Ask a doctor about appropriate alternatives.
• For external use only. Avoid eyes and mucous membranes.
• Do not use on wounds, damaged or irritated skin, or large areas of the body.
• Do not use with a heating pad or bandages.
• Ask a doctor before use if the affected area is red, or if pregnant or breastfeeding.
• Stop use and ask a doctor if excessive irritation occurs, the condition worsens, lasts more than 7 days or returns within a few days.
• Keep out of reach of children. Store at 15–25 °C (59–77 °F).
