Licorice: review your health history
According to NCCIH, glycyrrhizin in licorice can cause serious adverse effects, particularly with high or prolonged intake. Risks have also been reported with small amounts in people with high blood pressure or heart or kidney conditions. Interactions with corticosteroids have been reported. This label does not list a glycyrrhizin amount or identify the licorice as deglycyrrhizinated.
Passionflower: pregnancy, drowsiness and surgery
NCCIH states that passionflower should not be used during pregnancy. It may cause drowsiness, dizziness or confusion and interact with medicines used around anesthesia. Before surgery, tell your medical team about every supplement you use. Little is known about safety during breastfeeding.
