Review other medicines
BISMUTINA contains salicylates. Do not use it with a salicylate allergy, including aspirin, or alongside other salicylate products. Consult a doctor or pharmacist if you take medicines for anticoagulation, diabetes, gout or arthritis.
Children and teenagers
The Reye’s syndrome warning states that children and teenagers who have or are recovering from chickenpox or flu-like symptoms must not use this product. Consult a doctor for behavioral changes accompanied by nausea and vomiting.
Other important signs
Do not use with ulcers, bleeding problems, or bloody or black stools. Temporary darkening of the tongue or stool may occur during use; this possibility does not remove the bleeding warnings. Ask before use for fever or mucus in stool, and stop for ringing in the ears, hearing loss, or symptoms that worsen or last more than 2 days.
This presentation is labeled sugar-free. That feature alone does not establish suitability for someone with diabetes. Seek advice during pregnancy or breastfeeding as well.
